Flat Warts

Due to the thin skin on your face, when a wart grows in this area it is usually flatter and not quite so bumpy. These warts are actually called flat warts or verruca plana and can be found on the fact, palms.

Flat warts are harmless but they can spread to other parts of the body if you scratch your face or simply by using the razor on your face and then another part of your body. Needless to say, if you share a razor with someone who has flat warts, you might soon find that you have them too!

Common Warts

The common wart or Verruca Vulgaris are those thick bumps with the rough surface that we often think of when we hear the word “wart”. These are usually found on the hands, space needs an elbow.


They can resemble cauliflower and often grow in clumps. You may see black dots inside - these are the blood vessels.

Types Of Warts

Warts are unsightly bumps on your skin that no one really wants, but do you know what causes them and how to get rid of them? Not only can you get them at any time, there are different types of warts to deal with. Luckily, if you’ve got them, you can get rid of them and they may even go away on their own.

Warts are not just growths, they are caused by the human papillomavirus which affects the cells of your epidermis. The virus causes your cells to reproduce faster than they should, resulting in a wart. So a wart is simply too many skin cells trying to compete for the same space. You'll often notice warts have dark dots and these are actually your blood vessels.

All warts are caused by this virus, but they are actually a few different types of warts you might get. The common wart is what is usually seen on hands, elbows and knees. Plantar warts are the ones you get on the bottom of your feet. They appear to be flatter and smoother due to the pressure applied by walking. Because the skin in your face is thinner, warts that grow there are usually flatter and, thus, called flat warts.

So, how do you get rid of warts? You can use corrosive chemicals, freezing and even the duct tape! The thing you need to do is try one method and if that doesn't work well on to the next until you’ve finally found something that gets rid of those warts.
